Clomid.
Clomid (clomiphene) can be prescribed for women that are unable to conceive a child because of their ovaries not producing or releasing eggs that need to be fertilized. Clomid is supposed to be taken in cycles – each cycle 5 days long. You need to take one dose a day and the wait until the next period to repeat the treatment. During that period you need to use a reliable method of birth control – as otherwise there is a chance you may get pregnant and your baby is harmed. Clomid is used for a woman to get pregnant, but if you get pregnant while using this medicine – stop the treatment and talk to your health care provider right away. Clomid is FDA pregnancy category X – this medicine can be very dangerous to an unborn child and can cause birth defects. Serious side effects of Clomid are unlikely but still possible and include shortness of breath, visual spots or flashes, double vision, stomach or lower stomach pain, weight gain, stomach swelling, and blurred vision. In case you get any of the serious side effects mentioned – inform your health care provider right away. Less serious side effects can be the following ones: abnormal vaginal bleeding, headache, vomiting, flushing, upset stomach, and breast discomfort.
